Good morning, everyone. Unless you are JD Vance. In which case, the most I can offer you is an eye roll. Because your recent attempt to "vance-splain" the election was something of a too-little-too-late.

People across the nation, except Mike Johnson, are clinking their glasses to celebrate the enormous Republican loss in the midterms. The Democrats, realizing they were the only other party, were the beneficiaries of Republican losses. Some candidates took seats in states so drenched in red that winning candidates were asking voters if they were being punk'd.

It was a bluenami, as Parker Posey [would have called it](https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/tv/articles/parker-posey-tsunami-meme-resurfaces-155753219.html?ref=danielkherndon.com). Tracking the blue wave is a difficult task in most elections, and this year credit went to The Lorem Ipsum, leading some to call it a *teal wave,* as a way of giving credit to our Election Tracker posted [right here](https://danielkherndon.com/newsletter-stacking/) last week. We tracked an election won handily by Democrats and won by America, as it turns out.

According to Democrats, the MVP of their effort to take control of Congress goes to Donald Trump, for being an absolute cunt of a leader, with no help from JD Vance, the worst person in politics at delivering a joke. As Tuesday night's poll closings progressed, many reliably red states turned blue, almost as quickly as the bruises on Donald Trump's right hand.

As usual, Republicans are analyzing the loss. Ron DeSantis, reflecting on the election, pointed out that the years-long impact of losing at this scale, a scale that only compares in size to the amount of pizza Ron can [fit in his mouth](https://www.newsweek.com/ron-desantis-pizza-eating-jokes-memes-1810064?ref=danielkherndon.com) in one bite. Anything to avoid being the voice of reason, of course.

But people were worried about books found in libraries. About women speaking directly to their doctors, about a total of [10 trans people](https://glaad.org/fact-sheet-for-reporters-transgender-participation-in-sports/?ref=danielkherndon.com) playing in the wrong sport, and about anyone who might force them to put their pronouns on an email signature. They were worried about the *radical left*.

So the Republican strategy to respond to the distasteful Woke who police the English language like it's contraband: *let’s destroy everything they love and revel in their misery while we do it. Maybe that will secure our place in office and, as a result, out of prison.*

This strategy may have backfired. And it was due time. Even Texas was flipped. Once the crown jewel of the conservative movement, Texas chose anything that didn't look Republican. They put a nice guy in the Senate, and the ballot, from top to bottom, shifted left. As with Kansas, South Carolina, and Indiana, states that were previously a given for the right.

Greg Abbott warned us about immigrants taking our jobs, and he was right. A Mexican took his. A woman. That is, someone with any trait that isn't associated with the Republican brand. Now Greg Abbott will be rolling out of office as she walks in (not to make light of his wheelchair).

But Greg can't be blamed for everything. He was also crippled in the polls. Donald Trump had endorsed handpicked candidates that everyone hated, he spewed gold flake all over Washington, instead of helping the Americans that elected him, and he deployed ICE to deport as many people as possible, or shoot them if it's easier. And while Republicans may have spent more money to support the party than ever in history, the next person to get shot was themselves. In the foot. And the electorate is all too happy to deport them.

Trump managed to make a party so bad, even Republicans hate it. JD Vance published a post explaining why his party lost. "But the real reason we lost is obvious to almost everyone," [he said on X](https://x.com/JDVance/status/2118004988433641835?ref=danielkherndon.com). "1) End the war, 2) Focus on cost of living/inflation, 3) Put America First, 4) Change our relationship to Israel."

He failed to mention that his party has been acting like an entitled group of fascists devoted to their own enrichment, financed by the everyday American taxpayer.

Rather than heed advice that a college freshman would call common sense, Trump would rather put his name and fingerprints all over Washington, at least where the courts couldn't manage to stop him. His signature achievement: fixing a reflecting pool twice. And destroying his party. Twice.

Yet, for some reason, there were at least a third of Americans who believed in him, who still consider him the best president of all time, and nearly all of the Republican Party, who submitted to his whims, praised him endlessly, ignored his character defined by immorality and conceit, campaigned on his name, and worshipped him as though he were the second coming of Christ. Convenient, since their faith in the original Christ was no longer convincing after the compromises they've made.

But then the rest of us began the process of ridding ourselves of the man who fleeced America. We're starting with anyone who helped build a government in his image or was coward enough to keep quiet while they did it. It will take two more years to finish the job.

Finding that Trump left the country a shell of its former self, those who didn’t bend to him can now get to the work of making America great again.

That's it for this week.
