Worst Words
The best ones, the softest, crunchiest, the most tasty, and the one filled with gobbledygook that keeps getting in the way.
Hey Friends,
One of my favorite words is asbestos. Truly, since I discovered it, I've been in love. Language love that is.
It has a great mouthfeel. Like olive oil drizzled over an avocado.
I also like chlamydia and sarcophagus. Two tasty tunes orated directly from my lips to God's ears.
If I had a rabbit, I'd want it to be velveteen, for there is no sweeter adjective with which to exercise one's mandibles. Who wouldn't like to have a little fun in their mouth?
And the list goes on. Gubernatorially, grotesque, gazebo, or perhaps guacamole in a Spanish accent. But I assure you, one word is certainly not on this list.
Tariff.
I mean it. It's literally one of the most boring words in the world. Even if you roll the "R", it still falls short.
The T is too timid. The double consonant is a copout. And the mouth shape is predictable. There's nothing interesting about a word like this. But for some reason, the President has made it his favorite word, or at least second favorite.
How shallow can someone get?
And what he has done with this word is made it a weapon. He's become the bully in school, except with the nuclear codes. No imagination. Just one word, and a six-digit code that could destroy anyone's country, right after destroying the reputation of his.
He wielded it again this week against Canada, our former best friends and second largest trading partner. He's mad at them because their wind blows, pushing the smoke of their latest wildfires across our borders. He also holds a grudge against them for their tariffs against the US. He retaliates for the bourbon industry, which has been ravaged, converting it from a mecca of merchandise painted in gold flake to a KOA campground with rusty water. Tariff is a grievance word aimed at almost the entire world. Because noone is a friend. There are only enemies for Trump.
Trump has made oil, cars, beef, and coffee more expensive, and he wants to blame anyone but himself. To get his revenge, he uses the same tactic he used to create the problem in the first place.
So I don't agree. It's not that great of a word. I've certainly had better.
I just think that as far as words go, it just doesn't work that well. Anyone who uses it as much doesn't either. At this point, we need to figure out how to remove it from the dictionary, if it's even possible anymore.
That's it for this week.
Remember: The Lorem Ipsum is great with words, and words are for everyone. Make sure to share some of them with friends.
Have a great weekend!
